Electroneum Name Service Is Live: Claim Your .etn Domain

Electroneum has officially launched the Electroneum Name Service on mainnet, bringing human readable .etn domains to the Electroneum blockchain.

Instead of relying on long 42 character wallet addresses beginning with 0x, Electroneum users can now register a memorable .etn name that can be used to route transactions in supported wallets.

For example, instead of sharing:

0x71C4…9F82

You could simply share:

yourname.etn

It is a major usability improvement for Electroneum and provides new infrastructure for wallets, DeFi, games, NFTs and other applications being built across the Electroneum EVM ecosystem.

What Is Electroneum Name Service?

Electroneum Name Service, also known as Electroneum ENS, is a blockchain naming system that connects easy to remember .etn domains with on chain addresses.

Blockchain addresses work perfectly well for computers, but they were never particularly friendly for humans.

Most crypto users copy and paste addresses because manually entering or checking an entire hexadecimal address is difficult.

Electroneum ENS adds a human readable layer on top.

Your blockchain address still exists, but supported wallets and applications can resolve your .etn name to the correct address automatically.

What Is a .etn Domain?

A .etn domain is an on chain name registered through Electroneum Name Service.

Examples could include:

alice.etn

gaming.etn

business.etn

Unlike a traditional website domain, a .etn domain is primarily designed to act as a Web3 identity and point towards an address on the Electroneum blockchain.

It is similar to how internet domain names made websites easier to find without requiring people to remember IP addresses.

Electroneum ENS applies that same basic idea to blockchain addresses.

How Does Electroneum ENS Work?

Electroneum Name Service is built natively on Electroneum’s EVM compatible blockchain using smart contracts.

The system uses separate Registry and Resolver contracts.

The Registry manages registered names and their ownership, while Resolver contracts connect those names with the relevant blockchain addresses and information.

For the user, the process can be as simple as:

yourname.etn → your Electroneum address

The technical infrastructure operates in the background while the user gets a much cleaner way of interacting with the blockchain.

Reverse Resolution Brings Web3 Identities to Electroneum

Electroneum ENS also supports reverse resolution.

Normal resolution converts:

yourname.etn → wallet address

Reverse resolution allows supported applications to do the opposite:

wallet address → yourname.etn

This means an Electroneum dApp could recognise a connected wallet and display the user’s chosen .etn name rather than a long 0x address.

As more applications support the technology, .etn domains could become recognisable identities across wallets, DeFi platforms, blockchain games, NFT projects and other Electroneum applications.

.etn Domains Use ERC 721 and ERC 1155 Standards

Electroneum has implemented standardised ERC 721 and ERC 1155 token implementations for domain ownership.

These are established standards used throughout EVM based blockchain ecosystems.

This allows users to manage their Web3 domain ownership through supported EVM wallets and provides the underlying infrastructure for .etn domains to be transferred or traded where supported.

It also highlights one of the benefits of Electroneum’s EVM compatibility, with developers able to build using standards already widely understood across Web3.

Electroneum’s Low Gas Fees Make ENS Practical

Registering and managing blockchain domains requires on chain transactions, making network fees an important consideration.

Electroneum uses IBFT 2.0 Proof of Stake Authority consensus, providing fast transaction finality while keeping gas fees extremely low.

That makes Electroneum well suited to an on chain naming service.

Users can register and manage .etn domains without the high transaction costs that can sometimes make relatively simple interactions expensive on other blockchain networks.

Why Electroneum Name Service Matters

The importance of Electroneum ENS goes beyond replacing complicated wallet addresses.

One of the biggest challenges facing Web3 is usability.

Cryptocurrency users still have to deal with wallet addresses, networks, gas fees and transaction signing. Each additional technical step makes blockchain applications harder for newcomers to understand.

Human readable .etn domains remove some of that complexity.

Instead of being represented everywhere by a hexadecimal address, a user could build a recognisable identity that works across supported parts of the Electroneum ecosystem.

Developers could potentially integrate .etn identities into wallets, decentralised exchanges, DeFi applications, games, NFT platforms, block explorers and community applications.

The blockchain infrastructure remains underneath, but the experience presented to the user becomes much simpler.

How to Claim an Electroneum .etn Domain

Users can search for available names and register a .etn domain through the official Electroneum Name Service app:

ens.electroneum.com

Connect a supported Web3 wallet, search for the .etn name you want and follow the registration process.

Electroneum has also added Name Domains to its official blockchain explorer:

blockexplorer.electroneum.com/name-domains

Users should always verify that they are using official Electroneum services before connecting a wallet or approving an on chain transaction.

The Next Step for Electroneum Web3

The launch of Electroneum Name Service and .etn domains is an important step towards making the Electroneum blockchain easier to use.

It combines human readable wallet names with reverse resolution, established EVM token standards and Electroneum’s fast, low cost blockchain infrastructure.

Most importantly, it turns something inherently technical into something people already understand: a name.

As more wallets and dApps integrate Electroneum ENS, .etn domains have the potential to become a recognisable identity layer across the growing Electroneum Web3 ecosystem.

Planet Lore

Carceron is the Dominion’s prison world, a bleak and unforgiving sphere where the galaxy’s most feared criminals are abandoned. Vast complexes scar the surface, patrolled by guards whose wealth is envied, yet whose daily duties remain hidden behind walls of silence. Whispers tell of innocents cast into the same pits, their pleas lost in the dust and iron air. Few who fall to Carceron ever leave; the rare escapees speak of horrors half-glimpsed and corridors without end. To most, it is not a planet, but a sentence.
