Electroneum Announces Tangem Partnership for Secure ETN Cold Storage
Electroneum has announced a partnership with Tangem, paving the way for native ETN support on Tangem’s card-style hardware wallets.
Once the integration officially launches, ETN holders should be able to store, send and manage their coins through the Tangem app while keeping control of their private keys.
The announcement is an important step for Electroneum as it continues developing its EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain and expanding the tools available to its community. Electroneum confirmed that the integration is coming soon, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
What Tangem Support Could Mean for ETN Holders
Tangem is a self-custodial hardware wallet that uses physical NFC-enabled cards alongside a mobile app. When a transaction is made, the user taps the card against their phone to approve and sign it.
Private keys are generated and stored inside the card’s secure element rather than being held by an exchange or an ordinary mobile wallet. Tangem says its cards use an EAL6+ certified security chip and that private keys remain inside the chip during transaction signing.
Tangem can also be configured without a traditional seed phrase, using additional cards as backups. Users who prefer a seed phrase can choose a seed-based setup instead.
For ETN holders, this could provide a simpler cold-storage option without cables, batteries or a separate desktop device.
A Natural Fit for Electroneum 2.0
Electroneum operates as an EVM-compatible Layer 1 network with transaction finality of approximately five seconds. Its compatibility with Ethereum tooling also allows developers to build smart contracts and decentralised applications using familiar infrastructure.
Combining that speed with Tangem’s tap-to-sign hardware could make everyday self-custody more accessible, particularly for users who find conventional hardware wallets difficult to set up or manage.
It is important to note that Tangem’s current Electroneum asset page still describes ETN network support as temporarily unavailable. Holders should therefore wait for confirmation from Electroneum’s official channels or Tangem before attempting to transfer ETN to a Tangem wallet.
Electroneum Moves Further Towards Self-Custody
The partnership gives the ETN community another potential way to hold funds outside centralised platforms while retaining direct control over wallet access.
The integration has been announced, but it is not yet fully live. Once released, users should follow the official setup instructions carefully, verify the correct Electroneum network and always test with a small transaction first.
For now, the Tangem partnership represents a promising addition to the growing Electroneum 2.0 ecosystem, and one that could make secure ETN self-custody considerably easier.
